Titles within woodcut historiated border showing Luther and Friedrich III, Elector of Saxony, kneeling on either side of the crucified Christ, with symbolic depictions of the Evangelists above; full-page woodcut in Volumes 1, 3, and 4 depicting the dedicatees, Johann Friedrich II, Johann Wilhelm, and Johann Friedrich III of Saxony. Folio, 313x194 mm, contemporary blind-tooled pigskin over wooden boards, front covers additionally stamped I K and 1562 in black, brass catches, missing some clasps, front joint partly cracked on Volumes 1-3, portion of pigskin missing from bottom of Volume 3 front cover; contents browned with some marginal dampstaining, occasional early underscoring and marginalia, paper corrosion and worming in lower outer corner of Volume 2 title affecting border on recto and illustration on verso, Volume 3 title torn in blank outer margin and crudely reinforced on blank verso, hole in 2T4 in Volume 4 causing some text loss, some free endpapers lacking.
